Welcome To Moodle

Content for this course was borrowed from Moodle's own help files, you can access these in Moodle by clicking on a question mark icon. This course is designed to help you understand the different aspects of this interactive learning system.

First, the center column will have all the information regarding assignments and general information. In this topic box or Topic 0, information regarding e-Reserves and a News Forum may be found. Topic 0 is found in every Moodle course.

Second, professors have the ability to change the background of their Moodle course. Depending on which background is chosen, the icons may look different than the ones displayed in this course.

Third, courses may be in two different formats - weekly and topics. This course is in topic format. To see a course in the weekly format, follow this link.

Last, it is a good idea to stay away from non-alphanumeric characters when naming files to be uploaded into Moodle with the exception of "-" and "_". Non-alphanumeric characters may cause problems when used in file or folder names in Moodle.

Moodle Wikis

Wikis

A wiki enables documents to be authored collectively in a Web browser.

One of the defining aspects of wiki technology is the speed of creating and updating pages. Generally, there is no prior review before modifications are accepted, and Moodle wikis are open to the participants within a given course.

The Moodle Wiki module enables participants to work together on Web pages to add, expand and change the content. Old versions are never deleted and can be restored.
